FOOTBALL SCHEDULES FOR 2006 AND 2007 SEASONS FOR CLASSES A-B-C1-C2-D1-D2

In January of 2006, the Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) staff will again establish the football schedules for all of its member schools.  The classification period and schedules will be for two years – the 2006 and 2007 football seasons for Classes A-B-C1-C2-D1-D2.  Football is the only NSAA activity that has a two-year classification period.

The TENTATIVE time schedule this year will be very similar to the schedule used two years ago by the NSAA staff to establish the schedules for the 2004 and 2005 football seasons.  The schedule followed by the NSAA staff is dependent on receiving the enrollment figures the NSAA member schools have turned into the Nebraska Department of Education on the School District Membership Report as of the last Friday in September 2005.  These figures historically have been available to the NSAA sometime between December 1 and December 25.  Please refer to pages 12-13 of the 2005 NSAA Football Manual for more information on the NSAA Football Classification.

The TENTATIVE time schedule for this project will be as follows:

1.     November 16 –The deadline for member schools to have a football coop approved for the 2006 and 2007 football seasons will be the November 16, 2005 NSAA Board of Control meeting. No cooperative sponsorships in football for 2006 and 2007 football seasons will be accepted or permitted after November 16, 2005.

2.     November 30 – The deadline for schools to submit their declaration of participation in 11-man, 8-man or 6-man football.  Those schools with a three-grade enrollment (9th-11th grades) in excess of 83 may only qualify for the 11-man football playoffs, unless they’re within the one-classification waiver period.  (If you have questions about the one-classification waiver period, please contact the NSAA office.)

3.     December – The NSAA staff will establish the classifications and district assignments for the 2006 and 2007 football seasons.  Once these are completed and the schools are notified via the Internet, the schools will be asked to submit a priority list of non-district schools they would like to have on their 2006 and 2007 football schedules – Classes A-B-C1-C2-D1-D2.  The NSAA office will mail out to all member schools more detailed information on this process in December.

4.     January 2006 – The NSAA staff will establish the football schedules for the 2006 and 2007 football seasons for all member schools in Classes A-B-C1-C2-D1-D2.

5.     February 2 – The completed two-year schedules along with the two-year home and away designations for Classes A-B-C1-C2-D1-D2 will be released on the NSAA Internet web site (www.nsaahome.org) at 9:00 A.M. central time.
