Summary:No school shall register more than one varsity team per sport (delete "and no student shall participate simultaneously in more than one sport per season"). Eliminate the language restricting students from simultaneously participating in two sports during a sports season.
Rationale:Simultaneous participation is allowed under the rules of the National Federation of State High Schools (NFHS), which sets rules and regulations for high school sports.

Missouri is the only surrounding state that restricts simultaneous participation.

Allows local school board to set athletic participation policy for their schools.
Pros:Local control
Increases opportunities for student athletes
Cons:School districts would need to develop policies and procedures for simultaneous participation for athletic participation.
